About Become Your Desire
Become Your Desire is about what waking up really means, what it actually demands and what life might be like afterwards. It's direct, to the point and honest. It often takes a very different view of what might be dearly held concepts and beliefs. If you have even a passing interest in waking up, meditation or spirituality in general, I think you should read it.
It was written for me, through me, as my own guide back from the shock of non-dual awareness. Its still my active guide book or field-manual for keeping me on the path. It's a strict teacher!
So much of spiritual literature shocks me with how bad it is. There's so much padding, fluff, anecdotes, biographies; it makes me want to scream. Just get to the point! Become Your Desire wasn't written as a response to that but it has turned out to be a very welcome contrast to it. There's no fluff, no anecdotes, definitely no biographies. Just straight talking, to the point observations brought back from other states of consciousness.
It's short, pocket-sized, easy to read and each chapter can be referred to for years. The exercises are short, easy to do and yet extremely useful. There's nothing here that you can't blend into your existing practice but plenty that might add to it.
About Lynden Swift.
I've spent 40-odd years trying to see beyond myself. Through myself. Perceiving non-duality and losing myself, finding me way back to balance after that and then letting that awareness slowly sink into myself like a burning coal, transforming everything it touches and turning myself into simply a temporary location of ever-changing stability. This book has been a very unusual one to write. After completing my last book I didn't think I would ever write anything again and that notion didn't change until I slowly realised that I had completed another one without really noticing. The first chapters were written well over a decade ago. Over the years each one arrived as an instructional whole, from somewhere, recorded in whatever was to hand: old phone apps or note apps whilst in various states of reverie. I never thought of it as a book whilst it was in that creation phase. Then in June last year it all suddenly came together in one great focussed rush.
Now I am faced with trying to live up to the expectations of this work which feels partly written by me and partly written through me and now challenges me with every chapter. In some ways it feels like my future self leading me on and trying to guide me past the worst of myself. In others it is born of very real experiences, direct perceptions and openings and the struggle to integrate it all. It is a very strange relationship to have with something one has created. It feels more akin to having ‘birthed’ something as I look at this strange creature and wonder, ‘where did you come from?’
When you read it you will have your own experience and I hope that at least some of it proves useful, eye-opening, or even inspirational for you. I hope that you will find at least one sentence that changes what you do or how you see yourself or the world. That is the point after all. We are all in this together. We are all one. So here's to you and us as we navigate our way through this material plane.
If you want to let me know your experiences, get in touch.
If this book has resonated with something, please consider leaving a review: reviews really help with exposure for independent authors.
Very best wishes to you and all my thanks.
